The leather rifle scabbard has been the best way to secure a rifle during travel for over 100 years. In the past Cowboys on horseback used scabbards to protect their lever action rifles from the elements while keeping them at the ready for speedy deployment should the need arise. They attached them to saddle rifle scabbards and headed out into sometimes dangerous country. These rifle scabbards were necessary tools of the time for the working cowboys, lawmen and outlaws of the Old West. Today they are still the best way to carry a rifle when roaming the range on horseback or ATV.
